Gulf of Thailand Nautical Chart
'Gulf of Siam' Gulf of Thailand. Drawn by hand, with pen and India ink, while living on the beach in Maenam, Koh Samui, Thailand.

White elephants and a sea dragon protect this chart's journey. Like all my dragons, this one created himself, and the royal white elephants seemed to grow organically with the lotus flowers up the columns.

The traditional long boat I have drawn here, was tied to the coconut palm each evening, and was out fishing before dawn every morning: I sketched it while watching the sun set one evening on Maenam Beach.

The Thai script, that I have written above the Lotus Flower (bottom left), reads 'My Thailand' in the native words/script (as Thais do not call their country Thailand). *Koh or Ko means island (Ko is older way).

My artwork is also available as custom murals on kiln fired tile. Visit www.savanna-art.com for more information.

Thank you to; Poppies, Coco's, Easy Diver and the pool sharks at the Barracuda Bar - for continuing to sell my work, and a special thanks to Sam and Chris at the Rainbow and Hennis at the Morning Glory, for taking good care of my rescue dog Toto.

It is better to travel well than to arrive. - Buddha
